Abstract An apparatus and method for spraying electrostatic powder onto the surface of the ring-shaped article. The article to be coated is held by a holding fixture, the holding fixture includes a first fixture having a plurality of holding hooks circularly arranged and elastically deformable radially, and a second fixture having a rod, the first and second fixtures being inserted through the central hole of the article from opposite sides to engage each other. The powder ejected from the spray reach not only the outer surface, but also the internal surface of the ring shaped article because the central hole is not blocked or covered by the holding fixture, and a space is left between the ring shaped article and the end surfaces of the holding fixture.
