Abstract The continuous production process of zinc oxide whisker is characterized by that said invented method utilizes mechano-chemical forced pretreatment to quickly cover the surface of zinc powder with a layer of compact oxide film so as to control coverflow speed of zinc vapour when the zinc powder is roasted and oxidated, and adopts band or ring roasting furnace to implement continuous production of whisker product. The whisker yield is above 90%, its appearance is white loose form, its microstructure is a stereo four-needle form, the length of each needle is 10-300 micrometers, diametor of its root portion is 0.5-14 micrometer, and the purity of whisker is up to above 95%. It is mainly used as reinforcing and multifunctional additive material for macromolecular materials of ceramics and rubber.
