Abstract To make it possible to develop a sufficient deodorization effect with use of a smaller quantity of adsorption media and catalysts by depositing the metal phthalocyanine polycarboxylic acid expressed by a specific formula on active carbon fibers as the adsorption media having pores. This deodorant structure is capable of adsorbing and decomposing materials emitting malodors and is prepared from the active carbon fibers as the adsorption media having the pores and the metal phthalocyanine polycarboxylic acid which is expressed by the formula and is deposited on the active carbon fibers. In the formula, M is a metal atom, at least four of R are carboxy groups and the balance is hydrogen atom. M is adequately cobalt and a catalyst ability may be enhanced if the metal coordinate bonded to the phthalocyanine polycarboxylic acid is cobalt. Active carbon is preferably incorporated into the adsorption media. The adsorption media having the pores of 1 to 4 nm in average pore size are more adequate.
