Abstract The present invention disclosed a digital broadcast receiver that keeps a synchronization time within a prescribed time so as to attain high-speed channel selection and searching by controlling a carrier frequency to be demodulated in a way. Difference frequency detectors (9, 13) in the digital broadcast receiver (R) measure a difference destination (Delta F1st) between an intermediate frequency (F(sif)) and a carrier frequency (F(Sca)) to be demodulated. Reception control sections (13, 7) corrects the carrier frequency (F(Sca)) so that the measured difference frequency (Delta) is within a 1st difference frequency region where a rate of change in a synchronization time with respect to the difference frequency between the intermediate frequency and the demodulation carrier frequency is small. Thus, the synchronization time (Ts) can be kept within a prescribed time by demodulating the intermediate frequency (F(sif)) with the corrected demodulation carrier frequency (F(Sca)).
