Abstract This thermally-actuated overload tripping device for a circuit breaker is equipped with bimetals 3U, 3V, 3W and a differential shifter mechanism 5 as an overload and phase missing sensing means and opens the main circuit contacting piece by releasing a latch receptacle interlocking with an opening/closing mechanism through the action of the shifter mechanism, where the shifter mechanism consists of a first shifter, a second shifter, and an actuator lever, and arms protruding from the first and second shifters are positioned confronting the tips of the bimetals, and at the tip of bimetal of each phase, an adapter having outside dimensions corresponding to the spacing is installed between the arms of the first and second shifters, and the adapter is located and fixed in the bimetal assembling position where the two ends abut to each other being put in tight attachment to the arm tips of the shifters.
