Abstract The magnesium-base hydrogen storing alloy material has the chemical composition of Mgp-xAxNi1-yBy, where A is Al, Mn, Sn, Ca, Li, B, La, Ce, Nd, Pr, Y or mixed rare earth material; B is Cu, Ti, Co, Fe, Cr, Zr, V, Nb, Mo and W; with p being within 1.5-2.5, x within 0-1.5 and y 0-0.8. It has excellent hydrogen adsorbing and releasing performance at normal temperature and under normal pressure, and may be used to produce electrode with very high electrochemical capacity for Ni-H2 battery, hydrogen storing container, hydrogen-powered vehicle and fuel cell.
