Abstract A vernier focusing or a double-multiplying factor method and their devices for improving the resolution ratio of photoelectric imaging system containing focus plane array (FPA) are disclosed. The optical system with variable multiplying factor is used to form the object image on FPA. Changing the multiplying factor can obtain two or more sampled images, which are then used to create a high-resolution ratio image. Said vernier focusing method is suitable for 2D object. Said double-multiplying factor method is suitable for periodic object.
