Abstract A method for automatically controlling an optimal deposition rate according to the sectional change of a welding portionis. A standard deposition rate of a standard groove is set and the area of an actual groove is measured by a visual sensor. A comparator compares the area of the standard groove with the area of the actual groove and sends a compensating signal to a controller. Due to the signal, the welding current and the welding voltage of a welding apparatus are adjusted, the current and the voltage are compensated by the comparator. The welding current and the voltage can be automatically controlled according to the result comparing the area of the standard groove with the area of the actual groove. The method plays a prominent effect for providing an optimal deposition to the multipole welding and actualizing roboticized and high-powered welding.
