Abstract The present invention is the method of identifying Cordyceps. The 18S ribosomal RNA gene sequence between the primers NS3 and NS6 of Cordyceps is used as the reference; the matter to be identified is cloned to magnificate its 18S ribosomal RNA PCR between the primers NS3 and NS6 and the nucleic acid sequence of the magnificated PCR product is sorted in an automatic sequence instrument; and the obtained gene sequence is compared with the gene sequence of Cordyceps as reference. Based on the similarities and differences in gene sequence, it may be determined whether the identified matter is Cordyceps; and the said 18S ribosomal RNA gene sequence is used as the important index for identifying the purity of Cordyceps.
