Abstract A phosphate compound with novel porous channel structure is synthesized from V2O5, H3PO4, C2H8N2 and H2O by the hydrothermal method. It is green in colour and of transparent-semitransparent flake and needle-shape crystal. Its structure formula is (H3NCH2CH2NH3)3[(VO)4(PO4)2(HPO4)4]. Its molecular formula is V2P3O14C3H17N3. Its crystal data is as follows: a=1.8505(9)nm, b=0.7089(4)nm, c=2.3304(10)nm, beta=96.43(3)deg, and z=8. Its space group is C2/c. Its calculated density is 1.782 g/cu.cm.
