Abstract An image forming apparatus and photoconductive belt module having a non-contact proximity charging device are provided, the seam and endless photoreceptor belt 5 is put on plural transporting rollers and is made turnable in an arrow A direction, the electrostatic charging roller 7R is arranged to face the transporting roller 3, voltage is impressed thereto from a power source 10, by which the photoreceptor belt 5 is electrostatically charged, the endless photoreceptor belt 5 does not wave during turning of the belt in the most proximate part where the electrostatic element most approaches the endless photoreceptor belt 5 and therefore the distance L between the electrostatic element and the endless photoreceptor belt 5 in the most proximate part may be kept constant at all times. As a result, the stable electric discharge is made possible and therefore the uniform electrostatic charge potential may be obtained.
