AbstractThe present invention relates to process and catalyst for cracking methyl tert-amyl ether to prepare tert-amyl olefine. Of the catalyst, the active component is heteropoly acid, salt of heteropoly acid or their mixture with metal salt, and carrier is silica with special specific surface area and pore distribution. Under the conditions of 130-300 deg.c temperature, material liquid space velocity for 0.1-10 /hr and reaction pressure to maintain the gas state of reaction system, the methyl tert-amyl ether converting rate may reach 98.5% and the methanol and tert-amyl olefine selectivity may reach 99.5%.
