Abstract An arc voltage method for sensing the perforation state of molten bath in plasma welding includes such steps as real-time acquisition of plasma arc voltage with signal acquisition system, storing it to computer, processing the obtained signals to obtain Tus and SUMu sensed signals used for quantitatively determining if the molten bath is perforated, and comparing TuS and SUMu with dual thresholds to judge the perforation state of molten bath. Its advantages are simple structure, low cost and high practicality.
