Abstract A control member 18 is pushed to be operative by a head base 10 moving to a recording/reproducing position P, presses an operation piece 42 by a dog 40 to close an electrical contact 43, and thereby generates a play mode signal. The control member 18 also advances an arm 45 into the moving path of an opening door operation interlocking member to prevent opening of a cassette deck during recording/reproducing. On the other hand, the control member 18 is pulled to the head base 10 moving to a rest position R by a tensile spring 38, and engages brake catches 24 and 26 with gears 28 and 30 to put brake on tape feeding/receiving reels 20 and 22.
