Abstract The present invention features that hydrogen gas and unsym-dimethyl hydrazine react to produce ammonia and dimethyl amine under the action of catalyst comprising main active component metal Pd, assistant Rh, Ru, Ir, Pt, Ni and Co and support in the conditions of reaction temperature 100-300 deg.c, unsym-dimethyl hydrazine feeding speed 0.5-10 g/gram catalyst.Hr, hydrogen-to-unsym-dimethyl hydrazine molar ratio of 1-10. The present invention can hydrogenolyze unsym-dimethyl hydrazine into useful ammonia and dimethyl amine, and the process is safe and simple one in a smell equipment.
