Abstract A unit for sterilizing strip packaging material on a packaging machine for packaging pourable food products, the unit having a bath for containing a sterilizing agent in which the packaging material is fed continuously; an aseptic chamber having an input connected to an output of the bath; and an auxiliary recirculating circuit having a blower for aspirating air from the aseptic chamber, and two nozzles located close to the input of the aseptic chamber to direct a jet of sterile air onto an intermediate longitudinal portion of the packaging material having preapplied opening devices.
