Abstract Provided is an elevator device capable of easily executing the maintenance work of a hoisting machine with respect to an elevator comprising the hoisting machine on a car. A car 2 and a balance weight 9 are connected to both ends of a main rope, and the main rope is wrapped on hoisting machine 6 installed on an outer surface of the car 2. A maintenance means 19 is mounted on a wall of the car 2, and a worker for maintenance opens a door 18 of the maintenance means 19 and executes the maintenance work of the hoisting machine 6 from an inspection port 17 by the work from the car 2 side. Whereby the worker can execute the maintenance work with natural posture without paying attention not to drop the tools and the like to a hoistway 1 in mistake, and the efficiency of the maintenance work can be improved and the hoisting machine can be prevented from being damaged by the water in the flooding of the lower part of the hoistway 1 in advance.
