Abstract The invention relates to an image display equipment, which increases a bitmap capable of being displayed without increasing a bitmap storage means, and further, make a display enlargement ratio arbitrary. This device comprises a storage means for storing an original picture, and a projecting means for receiving a picture data corresponding to the original picture and converting the picture data into plural bitmap data for projection. Necessary plural bitmap data can be generated from each single original picture. The original picture can be replaced with the bitmap data. The projection conversion by the projecting means is a combination of such four kinds of conversions as a p-fold conversion in the x direction, a (1/q)-fold conversion in the x direction, a p-fold conversion in the y direction, and a (1/q)-fold conversion in the y direction.
