Abstract The Morbillivirus L4 strain has higher hemolysis activity than Edmonston strain. The present invention clones fusion protein F gene from Morbillivirus L4 strain, and it is found that the DNA sequence of the gene has seven bases different from those in Edmonston strain and that the said two strains have two different amino acids in their fusion protein amino acid sequences. The Morbillivirus L4 strain fusion protein F gene has high titer hemolytic activity after being expressed in recombinant vaccina virus Tiantan strain carrier and can produce high titer hematolysis inhibition antibody after being immunized. The present invention may be used in the research and development of Morbillivirus biology, molecular biology and gene engineering morbilli vaccine.
