Abstract The vertically recording meagnetic disc has large-area alumina pattern plate with superhigh density ordered nanometer pores, nanometer magnetic material lines distributed homogeneously in the pores and with easy-to-magnetize axis perpendicular to the plate plane. It is manufactured through the steps of preparing pattern plate, preparing ordered magnetic nanometer lines, electroplating or chemoplating to grow magnetic material in the pores with easy-to-magnetize axis in the nanometer line direction. It has a record density up to 170 Gb/sq in.
